Freezing and storage
Keep at -18°C or below until use. Thaw only the quantity needed for one trip; do not refreeze after thawing.
Rigs and jigs
Match rig weight to depth and current — lighter for estuaries, heavier for surf or offshore. Present bait naturally near structure or bait trails.
Hook and jig sizes
4/0–7/0 for snapper and dhufish; #2–1/0 for KG whiting strips.
Bait prep and handling
Cut bait to a size the target fish can easily take. Secure firmly with half-hitches or thread so it survives casting and current.
Best conditions
Fish dawn, dusk and tide changes. Reduce lead and leader size when water is clear and fish are cautious.
