Keep frozen at -18°C or below. Thaw only what you need for one session in the fridge or cool esky — never refreeze thawed worms.
Light running-sinker or paternoster rig on a long trace. Keep the bait moving naturally with tide rather than pinning it dead still in heavy current.
Long-shank hooks #6–#2 for whiting; slightly larger #2–1/0 for bream and flathead. Use fine leader 4–8 lb in clear water.
Thread one or two worms along the shank leaving the tail free to wriggle. Handle with dry hands where possible to keep bait firm on the hook.
Calm to light breeze, rising or falling tide on sand flats and estuary edges. Dawn and dusk are prime for metro whiting.
